SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Joe Batcheller is entering the race to become the next mayor of Sioux Falls.
The former leader of Downtown Sioux Falls announced he would enter the race during an event on Tuesday at Cherapa Place Plaza.
KELOLAND News was at Tuesday’s announcement and will have more coverage on why Batcheller is looking to replace Mayor Paul TenHaken who is term-limited.
Batcheller joins Christine Erickson, Jamie Smith and David Zokaites who have announced they’ll seek to be on the ballot for mayor of South Dakota’s largest city.
The city election is scheduled for June 2, 2026, which is the same day as the statewide primary election.
Erickson, Smith and Zokaites have filed municipal candidate committees, according to the city clerk’s website.
