Summer camp for girls Camp Mystic saw at least 27 deaths while 11 more are still missing.
And one of those is confirmed to be a family member of the Hunts.
Clark Hunt, 60, is the chairman and co-owner of the Kansas City Chiefs.
His wife Tavia Hunt posted announced on Instagram that a young cousin was one of the campers who died.
Janie Hunt was just nine years old and the great-granddaughter of William Herbert Hunt.
William was the brother of Chiefs founder Lamar Hunt.
And current team chairman Clark is the son of the late founder Lamar.
Tavia wrote on Instagram, “Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives — including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend’s little girls.
“How do we trust a God who is supposed to be good, all knowing and all powerful, but who allows such terrible things to happen — even to children?
“That is a sacred and tender question — and one the Bible doesn’t shy away from.
“Scripture is filled with the cries of those whose hearts have been shattered, who still wrestle to trust the same God they believe allowed the pain.
“If your heart is broken, I assure you God is near.
“He is gentle with your wounds.
“And He is still worthy—even when your soul is struggling to believe it.
“Trust doesn’t mean you’re over the pain; it means you’re handing it to the only One who can hold it with love and restore what was lost.
“For we do not grieve as those without hope.”
More storms are predicted to hit Texas in the coming days.
Authorities say the death toll is likely to rise.
“This tragedy has devastated us and our entire community,” Camp Mystic said in a statement.
“Our hearts are broken alongside the families that are enduring this tragedy, and we share their hope and prayers.”
