Kansas City Chiefs’ new $3bn domed ‘Super Bowl-ready’ stadium rendering plans revealed which would see end of Arrowhead

KANSAS City Chiefs’ new domed stadium rendering plans have been revealed, which would move them away from Arrowhead Stadium.

The Chiefs have considered relocating across state lines to Kansas.

The Chiefs have requested funding from the state of Kansas to build a new $3 billion stadium.

Kansas had applied a June 30, 2025 deadline on its offer to build a new venue for the iconic franchise.

The Chiefs requested an extension on the deadline, and Kansas extended the deadline to June 30, 2026.

A full-scale renovation of Arrowhead is still in consideration, as Missouri officials recently approved a stadium funding bill for the Chiefs and MLB’s Kansas City Royals.

But a change of scenery could be enticing for the Chiefs as a new facility would give them the chance to host major events like the Super Bowl.

The design, rendered by sports architect David Manica, features an enclosed stadium, outdoor amphitheater, and modern training facility with parking for those who tailgate.

It would also be a mixed-use development, which the Royals could use as land for a new stadium.

The location of the new stadium would be in Wyandotte County, across from Kansas Speedway.

The venue could not only host a Super Bowl but also the NCAA Final Four, and a variety of concerts and family shows.

While the Chiefs have a 2026 deadline on their stadium future, Kansas officials want a decision from the NFL team and the Royals by the end of this year.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly’s goal is for the state’s funding to turn the state into a “professional sports powerhouse.”

The state would provide up to 70 percent of the cost of the stadiums for one or both of the teams.

The Chiefs have resided in Kansas City since 1963 when they were part of the AFL.

They’ve played at Arrowhead since 1972.

The stadium was last renovated just 15 years ago.

It has a capacity of 76,416.

The Chiefs’ recent Super Bowl success has caused the franchise to want to expand.

A majority of Missouri’s representatives have wanted to keep the Chiefs and Royals, which will continue their economic benefits to the Kansas City area and the state.

“This is a zero-sum game. If we lose [the teams], the revenue we’re worried about no longer exists [in Missouri],” Rep. Keri Ingle said.

“The fact that we’d be willing to forgo that, I know we’re smarter than this.”
