KOHL’S has been forced to respond to a shopper’s fury after a coupon disaster led to them losing money on store credit.
The retailer has spoken out about the incident that was reported on social media, but the shopper didn’t take the reply well.

On May 31, a Kohl’s customer took to X to share their anger over a policy that caused them to lose out on coupon credit.
The shopper moaned that their Kohl’s cash had not expired before it was no longer honored in store.
The fiery post said: “@Kohls you stop honoring the 10 day grace for kohl’s cash without notice?
“It would have been more appropriate until the kohls cash that expired may 26th & then stop the 10 days, not prior to the expiration on that kohls cash!
“Thanks for doing that as I lost $50 in kohl’s cash!”
The shopper’s Kohl’s cash was set to expire on May 26, but the store nullified it before the day day period was up.
Kohl’s did respond to the complaint, but it didn’t receive a particularly enthusiastic reply from the customer.
The retailer wrote: “Hi there, we can certainly understand your concerns and we value your feedback.
“We’ll be sure to share your feedback with the appropriate team for review and future considerations.”
This is a stock response issued by most retailers targeted by a complaint.
And it seems like the shopper recognized this, as they shot back: “Typical response.”
It is not known why Kohl’s ended the Kohl’s cash coupon early, or at what location this happened at.
The US Sun has reached out to Kohl’s for further response to the incident.
POLICY CHANGE
The US Sun recently reported on a coupon change that has just hit Kohl’s.
People are trying to figure out how to make sense of the dollars that they have to spend, and they’re prioritizing where they want to put it

The retailer has decided to put more emphasis on its coupon system as Americans struggle with rising prices.
CFO Jill Timm said: “As we have made investments back into these categories and reduced coupon exclusions, we have seen an improvement in the sales trend of these customers.”
“We are bringing products back into the coupon, so we do think being more promotional and having value orientation throughout the year is gonna be important, particularly because the middle-income customer that we serve is pretty stretched in today’s environment
The hope is that this change will lower prices at Kohl’s and support American shoppers better.
Michael Bender, interim CEO, added: “People are trying to figure out how to make sense of the dollars that they have to spend, and they’re prioritizing where they want to put it.”
Data in a 2025 survey from Bloomberg News and Harris Poll found that three in every five Americans are cutting back on spending due to fears of a recession.
At the same time, over 70% are eating out less and 57% are spending less on entertainment.
