KROGER is standing firm after several shoppers missed out on essential savings due to a tag issue.
Some have claimed that while Kroger had listed items as discounted, this decreased price was not shown at the checkout.

One shopper, called Steve, 58, who did not want to give his last name, said that he had lost out on savings on three different occasions.
The Dallas, Texas citizen first had it happen to him in May, after he used his store rewards card to buy chicken that should’ve cost him $7.86.
However, he was charged $10.48 at checkout, losing out on the $2.62 saving he was expecting.
Then, a second shopping trip on July 13 lost him twenty cents on milk, as he thought he was getting it for $2.79 but ended up paying $2.99.
Steve only provided receipts for these two of the supposed three occasions, and was able to get a refund in both of these instances.
He said: “You know, anybody could make a mistake, and I felt like they just overlooked something.
“But then, when it happened again and again.
“And a lot of people can’t afford to pay more than the price that’s marked on the item for sale.”
Kroger confirmed that it had lowered the prices on over 1,000 items, but the milk Steve bought had actually gone up in price.
The issue was that nobody had changed the tag at the cooler. according to Kroger.
So where Steve thought he was getting a lower price, he should’ve been paying more the whole time.
The same thing was said about Steve’s chicken, that the deal on Steve’s chicken had expired, but the price tags on the floor had not been updated.
Steve added: “I’m not satisfied, because I don’t feel like I can go to Kroger without having to take pictures of every item that I buy and compare the price on those items to the receipt when I get home.”
KROGER SPEAKS OUT
Kroger came under fire for this practice in an investigation by Consumer Reports, The Guardian, and the Food & Environment Reporting Network.
Kroger’s refund policy

Kroger shoppers can return items with or without a receipt.
All Kroger Co. Family of Stores can accept returns of items purchased at any location within 30 days of purchase.
Returns with receipts:
- Customers can use digital or paper receipts to get a refund
- The refund will be returned in the same payment method the purchase was made. Either going back on a card or handed back in cash
Returns without receipts:
- Customers wanting to return more than $10 will receive a store merchandise gift card for the value
- Customers who spent less than $10 will receive cash
It claimed that Kroger had expired price tags on everyday inventory and was overcharging customers as a result.
But the retailer bit back at these allegations in a statement to CBS News Texas: “The Consumer Reports allegations boil down to misinformation, reviewing a handful of discrete issues from billions of daily transactions.
“It in no way reflects the seriousness with which we take our transparent and affordable pricing.
“Kroger is committed to providing our customers with accurate and transparent pricing.
“We regularly check thousands of items to ensure the prices are correct.
“With a large volume of promotional offers changing weekly, if an isolated discrepancy occurs, we honor the promotional price to make it right.
“Kroger works diligently to ensure prices are consistent across all platforms – in our stores and online.”
Kroger also said it did not have enough context to determine what had happened to Steve, if anything at all.
The US Sun has contacted Kroger for further comment, but did not hear back right away.
