A LEGENDARY fast food joint touted as “way better than Taco Bell” has just opened up in one state for the first time ever.
Customers rushed to try its signature dish and they were not disappointed.

Del Taco has finally begun welcoming diners in North Carolina as part of its continued expansion across the country.
Its first restaurant landed in Durham, in the north of the state.
One local called Jenn couldn’t wait to sample the Mexican food and compare it to competitor Taco Bell.
She shared her experience with others on Facebook.
Jenn wrote: Had to do it!”
She had been hoping to order one of their Del Taco Bowls, but was “so sad” to find they were unavailable.
However, Jenn was able to order the original Del taco.
She said: “It was delicious! Way better than Taco Bell.
“And I ordered one Carne Asada street taco. It was OK.
“A little too mush for my liking with the tortilla.
“But there Verde sauce they use is delicious and spicy! So I just ate the meat out of it.”
Concluding her first-impressions review, Jenn said: “I will definitely go back to the Del taco.”
Del Taco is winning over new fans with made-to-order favourites like the Epic Buritos, Double Del Cheeseburgers and Crinkle Cut Fries.
However, whilst the new North Carolina location might be going down well, elsewhere a franchisee for the brand has gone bankrupt – throwing the future of some locations into uncertainty.
The fast food brand experienced a sales dip recently, and it continues to navigate the situation in 2025.
Matadoor Restaurant Group, owned by Red Door Brands, submitted the Chapter 11 filing on Tuesday, per court documents from the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of South Carolina.
The franchisee currently operates 22 Del Taco restaurants in Alabama and Georgia.
It’s unclear if the bankruptcy will result in closures, but Del Taco already scared consumers earlier this year with 17 shutdowns in Colorado after franchisee Newport Ventures declared bankruptcy.
Matadoor Restaurant Group explained in the court documents that the latter half of 2024 was challenging due to “company growth, an unexpected decline in sales, and rising operational costs.”
