If they don’t come forward by the deadline for their game, they will not be able to take home the money they won.

In the Illinois Lottery, officials in the Powerball are looking for the ticket holder of a $1 million jackpot.

Per the website, the numbers were drawn on July 9 at a liquor store in the Chicago area.

In the state of Illinois, players have one year from the day the ticket is purchased to come forward and claim their fortune.

There are currently open games in the state, and four of them are in the Powerball.

The other three are for prizes worth $200,00, and two lots of $100,000.

The $200,000 game was drawn on November 30 2024, and the ticket was bought in the Dolton Area.

Once again, this mystery player has until November 30, 2025, to come forward and claim their money.

If they do not do so by the above date, they will not be able to and will lose their chance.

The more urgent of the two remaining $100,000 Powerballs is for a game drawn on March 12.

The ticket was at a Speedway in Hampshire.

For the final Powerball game still open in the state of Illinois, it was drawn a week later on March 19.

This ticket was purchased Cicero Shell Group Inc in Chicago.

All of these players have exactly a year from the day their game was drawn to come forwatd.

Lucky lottery numbers – fact or fiction?

The U.S. Sun spoke exclusively with professor of mathematics at Davidson College, Tim Chartier, who revealed the truth behind lucky numbers.

Scooping up a jackpot prize in a lottery game such as Powerball or Mega Millions involves correctly guessing a series of numbers.

Many players swear by certain numbers, sticking with digits such as birthdays, anniversaries, or ages – but do these numbers statistically carry the luck that players believe they do?

According to Chartier, they do.

“I think a number is lucky if you have fun playing it and it improves your experience of winning,” he said.

“The big lotteries are, statistically speaking, a chance to dream of being a multi-millionaire or even billionaire. If playing a certain number heightens that experience, then yes!”

However, the lottery expert clarified that aside from the feel-good implications of playing your “lucky numbers,” no number is truly lucky when it comes to the lottery.

“All numbers are equally likely,” said Chartier.

He explained that even though all numbers are equally likely, some may seem to appear more often.

For example, rolling a six-sided die six times does not guarantee that you will roll each number exactly once.

Players are advised to make themselves known to officials as soon as possible.

You can do this in a number of ways, mainly either by contacting or visiting the lotto office in the state.

TWO MORE OPEN GAMES

The other two open lottery games are from the Lucky Day Lotto.

The first game was drawn on June 4, and it was bought from a 7-Eleven in Chicago, worth $200,000.

The second Lucky Day Lotto is worth a whopping $475,000 and it was drawn more recently.

That game had its numbers drawn on July 1, and the winning ticket was bought at the Express Food Market, also in Chicago.
