Though the contestants celebrated the finale results on camera, tensions were high behind-the-scenes.
A production source exclusively claimed to The U.S. Sun, “The final few days and the finale got into some kind of ‘fireworks,’ but not the fun ones in many ways.
“Some couples were quite mad at the results and made it clear backstage saying that it was unfair and that they should have won the season.
“There were big tensions backstage, some arguments and we had to cool people down in order to keep going, as it was reaching at all-time high.”
Amaya, 25, and Bryan, 28, were announced as the winners of season 7.
Fan favorites Olandria, 27, and Nic, 24, came in second place.
Coming in third place was Huda, 24, and Chris, 27, while Iris, 25, and Pepe, 27, came in fourth.
On Friday night’s episode, Ace Greene and Chelley Bissainthe were eliminated after receiving the least votes by America.
An insider also claimed to The U.S. Sun they were “furious” over the elimination, as they were fan-favorites all season and the strongest couple in the villa.
“They found it scandalous to not be the ones kept until the end and chosen to be the winners of this season of Love Island,” the insider said.
“They were very angry and we had to calm them down and to respect the decision as we didn’t have anything to do with it.”
HUDA AND CHRIS DRAMA
Making it to the finale was Huda and Chris despite the couple’s relationship issues during their weeks together.
Huda and Chris made Love Island USA history by being the first couple to break up on the finale episode.
A production source previously claimed to The U.S. Sun that Huda and Chris wanted to exit the show after their split.
“They wanted to leave, but we had to force them to stay and to attend the results no matter what,” the insider claimed.
“They have a contract, they can’t do whatever they want and just leave like that.
“We had to talk them into staying and tell them that they didn’t have the choice but stay and attend the results.”
Production said the fight was “very bad,” as viewers watched Chris storm off, leaving Huda alone.
“Huda is a bit unpredictable, and we got into a very serious situation with Chris as we didn’t really expect a fight that bad to happen,” the source claimed. “We had to talk to them and try to figure out everything.”
The argument was triggered by Chris refusing to cuddle with Huda, as she counted to three, hoping he would reconsider.
The source continued, “Chris got very tense too, and didn’t want to be taught a lesson, and didn’t like how Huda was trying to control and manage everything.
“He lost his mind a bit because things were so tense, a lot of emotions were sky high.”
A second production source added, “This fight was bad for everyone and it created even more tension as we were all looking forward to ending this season on the best note possible.
“Huda and Chris ruined part of the finale, and their attitudes were unacceptable and selfish.
“They both wanted to leave before the results, and we had to tell them to stay as they didn’t have any other choice.
“They tried to talk us out of it, as they really wanted to go, but we told them that they had to stay because they signed a contract and they have obligations to follow.”
Reps for Huda and Chris did not respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.
