Jones was seen stumbling around as he left the field during overtime against the Rams.

It was not a pretty sight as the quarterback hurled while being helped off by wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, 25.

The stand-in quarterback earned significant praise for his performance as Eddy Pineiro, 30, kicked the winning field goal.

First-choice quarterback Brock Purdy, 25, remains out of action with a toe injury.

This forced Jones to play through an injury of his own to help the 49ers to victory.

Jones arrived at the 49ers at the start of the 2025 season after a year with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Before this, he had been seen as a replacement for NFL legend Tom Brady, 48, at the New England Patriots.

The quarterback has featured on the 49ers’ injury report early this season with a knee injury.

Jones was laying on the floor in agony and holding his leg during the third quarter.

It appears that he has exacerbated this knee injury.

Despite his knock, Jones continued to play the remainder of the game.

Jones threw two first-half touchdowns to hand the 49ers an early lead.

The Rams bounced back late on with Joshua Karty, 23, slotting a 48-yard field goal to send the game into overtime.

However, Pineiro landed his fourth field goal of the game to deliver victory to the visitors.
