THERE has been a fresh update on Madonna’s planned biopic – two years after it was reportedly shelved.
Actress Julia Garner was lined up to play the Hung Up hitmaker in a movie all about her life before it appeared to be left on the shelf over two years ago.

Now it seems that plans have been re-imagined with Julia now confirming she is still lined up to play the iconic popstar in a Netflix miniseries about her life.
Madonna and Julia are working with filmmaker Shawn Levy on the project, which is in the early stages of development.
Confirming that the project was still happening, despite the uncertainty, Julia told the SmartLess podcast: “Yeah, I mean, that’s supposed to still happen.”
Affirming her status as a huge fan of the Material Girl singer, Julia continued: “It just came about. I knew they were doing a project, making a movie about it, and then I went out to audition.
“I kind of just wanted to see if I could do it, because I wasn’t a trained dancer and I had to learn how to dance and then dance in front of her and convince her that I can dance, basically, and sing.
“And sing with her!”
She also opened up on how she has adopted a ‘what would Madonna do’ strategy to help cope with nerves.
Julia added: “’OK, what would Madonna do?’ Which is convince you that she deserves, you know, to be in this room, and I owned it.
“I was kind of like, ‘You can take it or leave it, but if you leave it, if I leave, then that’s on you’”.
However, she did appear to hint that the project may still be far off hitting screens as she affirmed that “anything that’s great, takes time”.
Madonna has been aiming to create a movie about her life for years.
Her first planned project, titled Who’s That Girl, appeared to be well on the way to fruition in 2023 but she soon put the brakes on in order to take part in her The Celebration Tour.
Last November, she opened up on her anger at the delays in releasing her biopic after a frustrating meeting with her agents and Hollywood execs.
Writing on Instagram, the Queen of Pop said: “After struggling for days in LA, listening to producers and agents tell me why I couldn’t make my film, I realised that everything in my life is going to be challenged.
“No easy rides for me. I guess I should be grateful..
“It forces me to think outside the box. I did not have a normal life. I cannot make this in the normal way.”
