Major cruise line abruptly cancels five months of voyages – customers with tickets are given three options

A MAJOR cruise line has cancelled five months of trips.

Passengers were sent an abrupt message saying that they were getting a refund after the brand swapped up its itinerary.

Earlier this month, MSC Cruises cancelled every trip planned aboard its Meraviglia ship between November 8, 2026, and April 11, 2027.

That’s because the ship, which is docked in New York City, is being moved to join the rest of the brand’s fleet in Miami, Florida.

After making the sudden business decision, the company told passengers that their trips had been cancelled.

In an email, they wrote, “MSC Meraviglia will now sail from Miami, Florida, during the Winter 2026/2027 season, offering 6- and 8-night cruises to the Caribbean and The Bahamas,” Cruise Hive reported.

MSC Cruises said that the move was a “response to the demand we are seeing,” according to USA Today.

The cruise line will now have a fleet of four ships that all sail out of its “new, state-of-the-art MSC Cruise Terminal at PortMiami.”

Ticketholders who had planned a trip out of New York next year were given several options on how they can get their money back.

Starting August 6, passengers were permitted to choose an eight or six-night sailing on MSC Meraviglia from Miami in the same accommodation and month as their original departure.

If an affected ticketholder chooses the longer option, they’ll get one extra night for free and a $50 per person onboard credit with a maximum of $100 available per cabin.

If they choose a six-day trip, they will get a $100 credit per person and up to $200 per cabin.

Passengers can also switch to another seven-night trip that leaves from any other US port, including Miami, Port Canaveral, or Galveston, Texas.

The replacement trips must also have the same accommodations and be during the same month.

Ticketholders can also opt for a Future Cruise Credit that is equal to the amount of money paid for the canceled trip.

They just have to use the credit and schedule another trip within a year, or else it will expire.

Finally, those who want cash back can simply get a full refund deposited into their bank accounts.

Anyone who doesn’t choose another trip or opt for a credit will automatically get their cash back.

Meanwhile, MSC Cruises had to drastically change another itinerary due to unrest.

The 119-day World Cruise trip aboard the MSC Magnifica, which is set to take place next year, had to adjust its journey around the Red Sea region.

The brand said that “geopolitical instability” was to blame for the altered schedule.

The Red Sea borders Middle Eastern countries, including Israel, which has been embattled in conflict with Iran and Hamas.
