A man was seriously injured after jumping from a mall’s fourth floor in Nonthaburi while trying to escape security who caught him filming under a woman’s skirt.

Chaos erupted at Central Westgate mall in Bang Yai district, Nonthaburi, yesterday evening, September 12, after a man accused of secretly filming under a woman’s skirt leapt from the fourth floor to escape security guards.

The incident happened around 7.40pm yesterday, when a woman noticed the man using an iPad to film beneath her clothing. She immediately alerted mall staff, who called for security.

According to witnesses, the 21 year old suspect was wearing a university shirt, which helped police identify him. Police colonel Siriphop Anusiri, chief of Bang Yai police, said officers worked with mall security to detain the man during the incident.

Reports state that as police began collecting evidence, the man panicked. In a frantic attempt to flee, he threw his bag down the stairs before jumping over the railing. He fell four storeys to the ground floor, sustaining multiple fractures and serious head injuries. He was rushed to hospital, where doctors later confirmed he had slipped into a coma.

One eyewitness described the scene as terrifying.

“People were screaming and crying.”

He said that several shoppers were left visibly shaken after witnessing the fall.

Mall security officers quickly secured the area, while police gathered statements and checked CCTV footage to piece together the sequence of events. Police have since confirmed that the man will face criminal charges once he recovers, reported Bangkok Post.

The incident has sparked heated discussion online, with many criticising the man’s predatory behaviour and others questioning the safety barriers in high-rise shopping centres.

Police said the investigation is ongoing, with evidence from the suspect’s iPad forming a crucial part of the case.

For now, the 21 year old suspect remains in hospital under police watch, with officials stressing that justice will be pursued once his condition stabilises.
