People in one city neighborhood are shaken after a disturbing discovery was made early Wednesday morning. A man’s body was found lying in the middle of an intersection — wrapped in duct tape and shot several times. Police say this was not an accident. They believe it was a targeted killing.
A Shocking Discovery
Around 6 a.m., someone walking by called 911 after seeing something strange at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East 25th Street. At first, it looked like a rolled-up carpet or bundle of trash.
But when police got there, they realized it was a person. The man was wrapped tightly in duct tape, with parts of his body exposed. He wasn’t moving. Paramedics arrived shortly after, but sadly, he was already dead.

Who Was the Man?
The man has been identified as 34-year-old Marcus Holloway. He lived not far from where he was found. Police said he didn’t have a serious criminal record, and they are still trying to figure out who would want to hurt him.
An autopsy showed that Marcus had been shot several times, including in the head and chest. The medical examiner said the injuries looked like he was “executed.” There were no signs that he tried to fight back, leading police to believe he may have been tied up or unconscious when it happened.
No Arrests Yet — Police Asking for Help
Police are checking security cameras in the area to see who may have dumped the body. They think it was placed there between 3 and 4 a.m., while the streets were mostly empty. A nearby resident told reporters they heard a car speeding away just before the sun came up.
“This was done on purpose,” said Lt. Carla Dawson. “Whoever did this wanted people to find the body. It was meant to scare someone.”
Right now, no one has been arrested. Police are looking into several possible reasons for the murder — including gang activity or a personal conflict. They’re asking anyone with tips or video footage to speak up.
Neighbors on Edge
People who live nearby say they are scared and heartbroken. Many are parents with children who walk that same route to school.
“It’s terrifying,” said Tyra Brown, who lives down the street. “I walk my kids here every day. To know someone left a body like that right here is just horrible.”
City officials have added more police patrols in the area and are working to keep the community safe.
A Life Cut Short
Friends say Marcus Holloway was quiet and stayed to himself. They are shocked by his death and want answers. Some have left flowers near the spot where he was found.
As the investigation continues, police say their top priority is finding who did this — and why.
If you know anything, even something small, police say it could help solve this terrible crime.
