Fans have accused McDonald’s of raising the price of its value meal deal, which includes a sandwich, four chicken nuggets, fries and a drink.
The value meal launched in 2024 at $5, giving fans the option of a McChicken, McDouble and later the Daily Double.
Some accused the meal of going up to $7, and while this happened, it’s only been done in certain locations because of the Daily Double.
In an email to The US Sun, McDonald’s confirmed that it’s the Daily Double that could take the meal to $6 or $7 if foodies choose it, depending on location.
The price rise has sparked outrage among some loyal McDonald’s fans, however.
On the social media platform Reddit, one person fumed: “I stopped going to McDonald’s for a couple of years because of the prices, but the $5 meal deal seemed fair.
“Well, a couple of weeks ago it became $6. And today it’s $7. 40 percent more in less than a month is wild. I’m done again.”
In response to the customer complaints about the price rise, McDonald’s CFO Ian Borden assured fans McDonald’s is still the place to go for fast food.
He said: “Our performance in the second quarter shows that customers continue to choose McDonald’s as a trusted destination for the food they love, that’s delivered with the quality, convenience and value they expect.
“We know what it takes to win.
“And as a market leader, we plan to leverage our size, scale and financial strength to deliver for our customers.”
The Daily Double was added to the meal on July 22, according to McDonald’s announcement.
It’s made with “two 100% beef patties, seasoned to perfection, and topped with melty American cheese, shredded lettuce, slivered onions, mayo and two juicy slices of tomato.”
The $5 meal deal is still in place at McDonald’s spots across the US, so value hunters can rest easy.
