McDonald’s to ax popular sweet treat from menu a year after nationwide roll out – exact date deal permanently ends

MCDONALD’S is officially dropping a beloved sweet treat from its menu as a key partnership comes to an end.

Much to the dismay of fans, the fast food giant will no longer offer Krispy Kreme doughnuts at its thousands of US locations as the two food giants end their collaboration.

The collaboration between the two companies saw Krispy Kreme doughnuts sold at 2,400 McDonald’s restaurants across the US.

While the iconic partnership was a success venture for the fast food giant and its franchisees, that was not the case for Krispy Kreme, according to McDonald’s USA’s chief marketing and customer experience officer Alyssa Buetikofer.

“We were excited and pleased to partner with Krispy Kreme. We had strong collaboration with Krispy Kreme and they delivered a great, high-quality product for us,” she began in a Tuesday press release.

“While the partnership met our expectations for McDonald’s and Owner/Operators, this needed to be a profitable business model for Krispy Kreme as well.”

As a result of the partnership being “unsustainable” for Krispy Kreme, foodies have just days left to get their hands on the sweet deal.

Krispy Kreme will officially stop selling its doughnuts at McDonald’s locations on July 2, the companies shared.
