A JUDGE has blocked a popular debt-related policy that affects millions of Americans.
The resulting impacts of the court’s decision will be life-changing for some, and leaves their future financial health uncertain.

Judge Sean Jordan of the US District Court of Texas’ Eastern District recently stopped the rule implemented by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to keep medical bills off of credit reports, per CNN.

Specifically, “every major substantive provision of the Medical Debt Rule” was beyond CFPB authority, according to Jordan’s written opinion in court documents.
