MILLIONS of Americans are set to receive two payments worth $967 in August thanks to a calendar quirk.
The rule meant that millions missed out on payments in June, but now it’s time for you to benefit.

Those who receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) checks will get two separate payments in the month of August.
This is because of how the days fall, as payments are usually issued on the first day of the month.
However, when the first of the month lands on a weekend or a holiday, payments are sent out early.
September 1 is Labor Day in the US, so SSI recipients will not get a payment on that day.
As a result, the check for September will be sent out early on August 29.
This is the last business day of that month.
But this is hardly a new thing for SSI beneficiaries, and it has already happened a few times this year.
In May, those on SSI received two payments that month because the first of June fell on a weekend.
And in June, SSI recipients didn’t get a payment on the first of the month, given the double dose in May.
In the same way that payments can be doubled up in a month, recipients can sometimes be forced to go a month without getting a check.
In this case, the June payment was given out on Friday May 30.
UPCOMING SSI SCHEDULE
Going forward, Americans can expect a few more disruptions to the SSI schedule.
There will not be any SSI payments in September, given that two checks will be going out in August.
The November check is being paid out on Friday October 31, as November 1 will fall on a Saturday.
SSI schedule
- Friday, Aug. 1, 2025 (Check for August 2025)
- Friday, Aug. 29, 2025 (Check for September 2025)
- Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2025 (Check for October 2025)
- Friday, Oct. 31, 2025 (Check for November 2025)
- Monday, Dec. 1, 2025 (Check for December 2025)

- Friday, Jan. 30, 2026 (Check for February 2026)
- Friday, Feb. 27, 2026 (Check for March 2026)
January’s check is going out on December 31, because January 1 is New Year’s Day.
The February check is being sent out couple of days early on Friday, January 30, because February 1 will be a Sunday.
And the March check is going out on February 27, 2026.
WHAT IS SSI?
SSI benefits those with limited income or resources as a form of Social Security.
About one-third of SSI recipients also get a benefit from Social Security.
It normally goes out to those 65 or older, and to those who have a qualifying disability like blindness.
About 7.4 million Americans currently get monthly SSI payments.
The income cut off for SSI is set at $2,019, so if you earn more than this monthly, you are not eligible to receive payments.
