MLB All-Star Sean Casey tore his hamstring while playing for the Savannah Bananas.

The 50-year-old made a sprint for first base after the ball pitched low.

Casey, lacking the pace of his peak years, made it to first base before disaster struck.

He tore his hamstring turning round the base and had to hobble back.

Fortunately Casey saw the funny side as he laughed to himself before exchanging high-fives with his team-mates.

After the match he wrote on X: “What a moment to have one more AB in front of the greatest fans in the world last night in Cincinnati!!

“Thx to @TheSavBananas and @YellowTuxJesse for the opportunity!

“Banana Ball is so fun, what an experience!

“I was hoping for one more double in the gap, but I’ll take the walk for the team and tight morning hammy.😂

Fans found the incident hilarious as they applauded Casey for his effort.

One reacted saying: “I love it. Never seen an athlete so happy about an injury.”

Another added: “Maybe the slowest MLB player ever. Get well soon.”

A third wrote: “A highlight among a highlight night. Thanks for the memories, Your Honor.”

And another commented: “This is the funniest thing they’ve done all year.”

Casey, 50, retired from baseball in 2009 following a short spell with the Boston Red Sox.

He played 12 seasons of MLB, including seven years at Cincinnati.

And Casey made the All-Star team three times – in 1999, 2001 and 2004.

Outside of baseball, he co-founded Labels Are For Jars with Conan O’Brien, an innovative anti-hunger organization based in Lawrence, Massachusetts.
