More severe weather today

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – After strong to severe weather yesterday in eastern KELOLAND, we’ll go through it again today.

There’s a MODERATE risk (level 4 out of 5) for severe storms today in eastern KELOLAND.  While strong wind gusts are the main threat, all modes of severe weather are possible.

Storms are expected in KELOLAND during the afternoon hours and last through the evening.

In the meantime, another hot and humid day can be expected across KELOLAND.  Highs will reach the 80s, 90s, and 100s.

The thick humidity will allow for the heat index to climb over 100 this afternoon for many near Interstate 90 and south in southeast KELOLAND.  This is where an EXTREME HEAT WARNING is in effect for today.  Use caution when spending time outdoors.

Slightly cooler and drier air will take hold of KELOLAND by midweek.  In the meantime, highs tomorrow will reach the 80s with scattered showers and storms still possible.

Notice the cool air for midweek and beyond as highs will be in the 70s and 80s.
