A FINNISH MP has tragically died by suicide in the country’s parliament building.

Parliament’s Director of Security Aaro Toivonen told the Finnish media that emergency services rushed immediately to the scene upon being alerted to the tragedy.
Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo earlier confirmed that a body had been found on the premises.
He said: “Some time ago, we received truly shocking news from parliament, our common workplace.
“One of our colleagues has passed away on parliament premises. This is truly sad news.”
He added that political business in parliament is being suspended in mourning of Peltonen.
Orpo said: “At the same time, we wish strength to his family, loved ones and colleagues.
“This deeply touches all of us, we send greetings and strength to everyone.”
Peltonen’s body was found at about 11am local time, according to local media reports.
Officials initially did not name him until it was confirmed that his next of kin had been notified.
He had previously taken sick leave in June following a problem with his kindeys.
Peltonen was first elected to the Finnish parliament in 2023 with 5,747 votes.
He was a member of the centre-left Social Democratic Party.
