For Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain! actor Shubhangi Atre, Father’s Day, which will be celebrated on June 15, is not just a date on the calendar; rather, it’s a daily celebration of love, respect, and lifelong inspiration. She shares that her father has shaped her world and says, “For me, my father is my superhero and my forever hero. So honestly, just one day is not enough for him. Every day is Father’s Day all 365 days! But yes, I will definitely celebrate Father’s Day.”
As both a daughter and a mother, she believes that the greatest gift we can give our parents is our well-being and success. “If we do something good in life, make a name for ourselves, that becomes the biggest and most meaningful gift for them. We can never really repay our parents, but through our good actions and achievements, we can try to make them proud and happy,” she says.
Though she is still planning her surprise, she reveals that she wants it to be unique and heartfelt. She quips, “My father has a sweet tooth and really loves sweets, but due to his ongoing battle with cancer, we avoid giving him sugary items. So I am planning to find something sugar-free or healthy that he can still enjoy.”
Shubhangi’s bond with her father is rooted in unforgettable childhood memories, and she mentions that he treated her and her two sisters like princesses. She adds, “He made us feel less than any boy. He always encouraged us to dream big.” However, one memory that she recalls as it always remains fresh is the day she received her scooter during college. She says, “My dad told me to go check out the showroom, but when I reached there, everything was already set up. The scooter was decorated with balloons and ready just for me.”
From her father, she has learned to live fully. She says, “Every morning, he tells us, ‘Live your life fully!’ Even today, when I go through tough times, it’s his words that give me strength. He always says, ‘Zindagi mein sukh-dukh aate rehte hain, lekin kabhi hope mat khona.’ Zindagi na milegi dobara”—and he used to say that even before the movie came out!”
On screen, the character that reminds her most of her father is Rakesh Bedi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!. She says, “The way Angoori calls him ‘Dadoo’—he reminds me so much of my dad. I love listening to the poetry he writes.”
Shubhangi and her father also share a passion for travel and cinema. She avers, “We often talk about different destinations and content whenever we are together. He even suggests new places to visit, like, ‘Beta, go see this place or that place.’ Once, I took him to a wildlife sanctuary where he saw a tiger for the first time, and he loved it! Since then, he has started enjoying nature and wildlife more too.”
And she concludes by saying that no material gift can match what we can give emotionally. “The best thing we can do for our parents is to live our lives with strength, values, and success. If we do that, it’s the biggest gift we can offer them. I thank both my mom and dad; they are my biggest strength and support,” Shubhangi ends.
Happy Father’s Day to all our readers!!
