Simaran Kaur, who plays the leading role of Riddhi in Zee TV’s Jamai No. 1, which is all set to shut down soon, is gung-ho about the festivities around Ganesh Chaturthi. She enjoys every ritual that she is part of and looks forward to seeing Bappa every year. The 10-day event of the festival in Maharashtra, involves grand processions, music, dance, and cultural performances held in public spaces known as pandals. Simaran loves to rejoice in the fervour of welcoming Bappa.
Says Simaran, “Ganesh Chaturthi is one of those festivals that fills me with pure joy. In Mumbai, I love visiting pandals, going for darshan at friends’ homes, and of course, relishing lots of modaks! Some of my fondest childhood memories are of visarjan, dancing to the beats of the dhol and saying goodbye to Bappa with the hope of welcoming him again next year.”
On how she celebrates the festival today, she says, “Even today, that mix of excitement and nostalgia stays with me. I also feel it is important to celebrate an eco-friendly Ganpati. Choosing clay idols, natural colours, and responsible immersion methods ensures that our devotion goes hand-in-hand with protecting the Earth. This year, my heartfelt wish is for good health, happiness, and harmony for everyone.”
Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to all!!
