WEEKS after sustaining a non-football injury, Najee Harris still hasn’t taken the field for the LA Chargers.
Harris injured his eye in a Fourth of July accident, and there still aren’t many clear answers about his status.

Last week, Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz told reporters than Harris would start camp on the non football injury list.
“Nothing is set in stone,” he said.
Harris did end up on that list, but it was expected to be a “short stint.”
In a statement after Harris’ injury, his agent, Doug Hendrickson, called the injury “superficial.”
He also said that Harris was “fully expected to be ready for the upcoming NFL season.”
Despite the positive signals from his agent, Harris hasn’t done much to convince fans that he is going to be ready for the NFL season.
He has arrived at Chargers training camp, but appears to be concealing his appearance.
Harris was spotted watching drills with a hoodie pulled over his head and sunglasses on.
Fans are concerned about what this could mean for Harris’ status this season and shared their thoughts on social media.
“Nah what’s going on w the eye,” one fan said.
“That eye is gone,” another fan said.
“We want to see the eye,” a third fan said.
“Yup, that ain’t good,” a fourth fan said.
“I don’t think he will see any training camp time,” a fifth fan said.
Harris needs to get off of the NFI list before the end of training camp or else he will miss games.
NFL important dates 2025 season
March 12 – Free Agency begins
April 24-26 – NFL Draft in Green Bay, Wisconsin
September 4 – 2025 season opener (TBC vs Eagles)
November 27 – Thanksgiving Day triple header
January 4, 2026 – End of regular-season
February 8, 2026 – Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California
If he isn’t off the list by the time the Chargers set their 53-man roster, he will be forced to miss at least four games.
Harris was a good signing for the Chargers as he was coming off four straight 1,000-yard seasons, so it would be tough to lose him.
On the bright side, the Chargers have a good option to take over the rushing reps from Harris.
The team drafted Omarion Hampton out of North Carolina with the No. 22 overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.
He was a highly-touted prospect and should be able to instantly perform for the team if Harris can’t go.
