The crash was a horrifying scene at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec, Canada.

Friesen was competing in the Super DIRTcar Series, a non-Nascar event.

After slightly bumping into another vehicle, Friesen slid into the wall and launched off it.

This caused him to flip several times, and the car exploded into flames before drifting back onto the track.

From there, Friesen collided with multiple other vehicles before the crash ultimately ended.

It took around 30 minutes to stabilize Friesen and get him out of the vehicle.

In the crash, Friesen was determined to have fractured his pelvis, broke his leg, and sustained multiple other injuries.

His wife, Jessica, released a statement saying that he is in a “tremendous amount of pain.”

“As most of you know by now, Stewart was involved in a multi-car accident at Autodrome Drummond in Quebec, Canada last night,” she wrote.

“CT scans have come back clear of any head, neck, or spine injuries. Unfortunately, he is still in a tremendous amount of pain.

“Stewart has suffered an unstable/open-book pelvic fracture, meaning his pelvis is broken in two or more places, with a large hematoma on the area.

“Stewart also has a fractured right leg. Both of these injuries will require surgery. Stewart was transferred to a larger hospital this morning for these procedures.

“His vitals are stable, and after receiving additional pain medication he is in better spirits and resting.”

Jessica went on to thank those who assisted in getting Friesen out of the car and to the hospital.

“Thank you to Tommy Conroy and Martin Roy, who stayed with Stewart last night,” she wrote.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out and sent prayers and positive thoughts.

“Thank you to the manufacturers who have made dirt modifiers as safe as possible, and to the track crew for their patience and hard work getting Stew out of the car.

“We will share more updates as soon as we have hem. Thank you all for your continued support.”

Friesen is a four-time winner in the Craftsman Truck Series.

He qualified for this year’s playoffs, but his status is in doubt due to his injuries.
