While the deal is still being finalized, ESPN reports that Horford verbally committed to the Warriors on Sunday, with the financial details yet to be ironed out.

A formal signing is expected in the coming days, pending a decision from restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.

This move marks Horford’s 19th season in the NBA, and he is slated to start at center for Golden State.

Despite contemplating retirement, Horford ultimately decided to continue his career with the Warriors, one of the top suitors for his services this offseason.

Last season, Horford posted averages of 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, and 2.1 assists, while shooting an impressive 36.3% from beyond the arc on 5.2 attempts per game.

He played 60 games for the Celtics, starting 42, and remains a consistent and dependable presence on both ends of the floor.

Known for his sharp shooting and defensive prowess, Horford has made over 100 three-pointers in each of the past three seasons, connecting on 41% of his attempts from deep.

His skill set is expected to complement Golden State’s dynamic core, including Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler III, and Draymond Green.

His size, shooting, and defensive awareness will provide a significant boost to the Warriors’ center position.

Horford was also one of the league’s top defenders in isolation situations last season, allowing just a 46% effective field goal percentage in such scenarios, ranking seventh in the NBA.

He also finished sixth in the league for most isolation situations defended during the 2024-25 season, underscoring his versatility on defense.

The veteran big man is now one of only four players in NBA history to surpass 900 made three-pointers and 1,300 blocks, joining Rasheed Wallace, Brook Lopez, and Clifford Robinson in this exclusive club.
