Ball and his wife, Rashida Nicole, had just begun their marriage on March 24.
One week prior to Ball’s divorce filing, Nicole had revealed she was expecting a child with him.
“Wish I had all the right words to describe this journey, but I guess if I had to define it, all I can truly say is: I’m grateful, terrified, anxious, nauseous, HANGRY,” she wrote on Instagram.
“As a teen mom, I was always hesitant about going thru pregnancy and parenthood again. (Iykyk)
“I want to thank my daughter for being here for me during this process, always demonstrating unconditional LOVE & reassuring me that, ‘Everything is alright!’
“And for now… I choose to protect my peace and this beautiful energy.”
Ball commented multiple emojis on Nicole’s announcement, including a lock and key.
That led many to believe the couple’s relationship was going steady.
However, the divorce filing cited “irreconcilable differences” between Ball and Nicole.
This is the second stunning breakup that Ball has been involved in this year.
The mother of his children, Nikki Mudarris, claimed that he walked out on the family.
In a post on Instagram, Mudarris appears to call out Ball and Nicole’s relationship.
“We spent 3 1/2 years together, and last week he decided to walk out on his kids and tell me he got someone else pregnant,” she wrote.
Despite his NBA career flaming out, Ball scored a big win at the start of this year.
