NBC left fans divided after choosing to replay highlights of the 2008 US Open in a bid to pass time as weather called a halt to action.
Heavy rain at the Oakmont Country Club, Pittsburgh led to a pause in play in the final round.

Play was halted with the greens at the 14th and 18th holes waterlogged.
So to pass the time, NBC aired the 2008 US Open at Torrey Pines Golf Course – which Tiger Woods won in a sudden-death playoff over Rocco Mediate.
At first, NBC aired the final holes for the final couple of groups in Round 3 of the 2008 US Open – featuring numerous highlights of Woods.
The network then jumped back to the 2008 US Open, airing the final few holes of the tournament.
It divided fans as one said: “Facing a long weather delay and the loss of a huge Father’s Day audience, NBC breaks out Tiger at the 2008 U.S. Open. Works for me.”
Another added: “NBC is showing the 2008 U.S. Open 3rd round during the weather delay. Picking up with Tiger on 13.
“Great job at keeping my attention.”
One agreed: “Whoever at NBC made the decision to dial up 2008 Torrey Pines for the rain delay at Oakmont deserves a raise.”
But another argued: “LOL at NBC choosing to show the THIRD ROUND of the 2008 US Open as their rain delay coverage.
“We couldn’t get the final round? Or anything from the last 5 years?”
One said: “NBC just straight from the horn to 2008 US Open Saturday? No booth or highlights or interviews or creative coverage?
“At least do another Oakmont year if you’re gonna quit on live coverage.”
When play resumed, 120/1 underdog JJ Spaun capped off a remarkable US Open win.
