NEW England Patriots icon Julian Edelman gave his reaction to Jimmy Johnson’s stunning retirement from Fox NFL Sunday.
Edelman works on Fox NFL Kickoff and is a former colleague of the Dallas Cowboys legend Johnson.

Johnson worked on Fox NFL Sunday since its 1994 inception.
The broadcasting icon hinted he would be walking away from the show in the Super Bowl in February.
But Johnson confirmed the news one month later, following 31 years with the TV team.
The U.S. Sun caught up with Edelman at Fanatics Fest in New York City late last month and asked him about Johnson’s retirement.
“It’s crazy. He’s such a pivotal part of that show, and I learned so much from him. Jimmy’s the best,” Edelman said.
Edelman also believes that Johnson will be back and join Michael Strahan, Terry Bradshaw, Howie Long, and Curt Menefee for a few segments in the upcoming season.
“I’m sure he’ll be back in some capacity. He’s got to do a couple of bits,” he said.
“I love Jimmy… What an unbelievable career. “
At the age of 39, Edelman is one of the youngest NFL analysts in the business.
The three-time Super Bowl champion has worked on Fox NFL Kickoff since 2023, and his future could be at Fox NFL Sunday.
Edelman addressed whether he sees himself joining the primary pre-game show eventually.
“I don’t know. I love what I do. I get to explain the game that I love with people I like working with,” Edelman said.
“Right now, I’m just enjoying Fanatics Fest right here… and excited like everyone else for the start of the season.”
It’s expected that Johnson will be replaced by Rob Gronkowski, who filled in for the 81-year-old during portions of the 2024 season.
There are others on Fox NFL Sunday whose future is uncertain.

The 76-year-old Bradshaw revealed that he’ll retire the next time Fox broadcasts the Super Bowl, which will be when he’s 80.
“I told my wife before I even left the room awhile ago,” Bradshaw said at Super Bowl 59 in February.
“I was sitting there and I said, ‘I’ve got two years left at Fox. I’m 76′.
“OK, so It’s a young man’s game.

“I get that, so I said, if we can get to the next Super Bowl, I’ll be 80.
Strahan is expected back for the 2025 season, but he has expressed his intentions to spend more time with his family and friends.
And the futures of Charissa Thompson and Erin Andrews are murky as their contracts with Fox are up this summer.
Nonetheless, Strahan, Bradshaw, Gronkowski, Long, and Menefee are all expected to star on Fox NFL Sunday this September.
