Linebacker Micah McFadden suffered a leg injury in the first quarter of the game against the Washington Commanders.
It happened when he tried to tackle running back Austin Ekeler.
The linebacker needed immediate medical attention after the play.
And it was clear that the injury could be serious when a medical cart came onto the field.
The 25-year-old left the game on the cart as his teammates came to show their support.
McFadden is a starting linebacker in his fourth year for the Giants.
He was selected in the fifth round in 2022 out of Indiana.
The Athletic’s Dan Duggan later reported that McFadden was seen on the team sideline.
He had his right foot in a boot, Duggan added.
And NFL Network’s Mike Garofolo said that his X-ray came back negative.
It’s unclear how long McFadden could be out for but the Giants will be encouraged by the update.
They were comfortably beaten by their NFC East rival Washington Redskins.
Jayden Daniels threw a touchdown while the Commanders ran in two more.
Jacory Croskey-Merritt had 10 carries for 82 yards and a touchdown.
Wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who had seven catches for 77 yards, also rushed for a score.
