RUSSELL WILSON is facing the axe just one week into the new NFL season.
It comes after comments made by head coach Brian Daboll following the New York Giants‘ defeat to the Washington Commanders in Week 1 of the NFL season.

The Giants fell to a 21-6 defeat to their division rival.
Their disappointing display came in part thanks to a lethargic offense overseen by quarterback Wilson.
In what was Wilson’s first start for his new team, he completed just 17 of his 37 attempts for 168 yards.
Wilson, 36, also ran for just 44 yards.
Most alarmingly, no one on the Giants managed to score a touchdown.
And that may prompt a change of lineup by Daboll for Week 2 with rookie Jaxson Dart coming in to replace Wilson.
Speaking to reporters, he said: “We’re going to get home and look at our game.
“Yeah we’re just right here after the game.
“I’ve got confidence… We have to do better around overall – coaches, players, [all] around everybody.
“So we’ll get focused and ready to go on to Dallas.”
When pressed on whether he was considering starting 22-year-old Dart over Wilson, Daboll affirmed his support for the 2012 third-round pick.
Daboll, 50, said: “We’re talking about after every game…
“I’ve got confidence in Russ. We’ll go back, evaluate the tape.
“This game isn’t on Russell Wilson. It’s not on Russell Wilson.
“Let me make that clear. I have confidence in Russ.
“We have to do a better job all the way around.”
The Giants won just three games last year, but were hoping for a better season after winning all three pre-season games.
They now face the Dallas Cowboys next.
The Cowboys themselves fell to a narrow 24-20 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1.
