THE New York Jets have suffered a devastating injury blow just days before the start of the season.
The Jets’ offensive line had been thought to be one of their strengths heading into the 2025 NFL season.

However, a serious injury to Alijah Vera-Tucker could severely hamper them this year.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that Vera-Tucker suffered a significant arm injury in practice.
The linesman could require surgery, sources told the reporter.
But he will receive a second opinion.
Vera-Tucker has previously missed significant periods in two of his four NFL seasons because of injuries.
He missed 10 games in 2022 with a torn triceps and 12 games in 2023 because of a torn Achilles.
The guard played college football for the USC Trojans before entering the 2021 NFL Draft.
He was selected in the first round by the Jets.
The 26-year-old is in his final year of his rookie contract, making a guaranteed $15.3 million.
Head coach Aaron Glenn suggested they will extend Vera-Tucker’s contract.
The injury to Vera-Tucker is a big hit for New York.
He was recently voted a captain earlier in the week by his teammates, and his experience will be missed.
The Jets hoped he could help the transition for rookie right tackle Armand Membou.
His injury also means there will likely be a shift in the offensive line to cover for the injury.
Joe Tippmann and Josh Myers have battled it out all preseason for the starting spot at centre.

Glenn is yet to announce the starter.
However, Tippmann has played at right guard in the past, so he could slide over to replace Vera-Tucker.
This injury is not how the side would have wanted to start their season after looking to rebuild over the summer.
Glenn is heading into his first season as head coach of the Jets, while they brought in Justin Fields over the offseason as QB.
The 26-year-old replaces Aaron Rodgers, which perfectly epitomises the rebuild.
