With just three games left until the All-Star break, an important member of the Yankees will be absent from Friday’s home contest against the Chicago Cubs.
Yankees public announcer Paul Olden’s long-standing streak will be coming to an end on Friday night, the team announced.
The Yankees revealed that Olden will be away from the team’s series from July 11 to July 13 as he will take time off to attend a personal obligation.
The legendary franchise shared that Mark Fratto, who has been NYC FC’s PA announcer since their inception, will take Olden’s place.
Fratto is also the PA announcer for the Washington Commanders and Washington Wizards.
He’s also the regular PA announcer at Madison Square Garden for boxing events and college basketball games.
Olden has been in the role since Yankee Stadium opened in 2009 and has worked the PA for every home game since.
His 16-year streak included both regular-season and postseason games.
Fratto informed his X followers about his Yankee Stadium PA assignment while noting Olden’s accomplishment.
“Well friends, still in disbelief but we’re going to The Show with the #Yankees this weekend,” he wrote.
“An absolute honor to be on the big mic in The Bronx as the great Paul Olden — who hasn’t missed a game since his 2009 appointment — attends a family function.
“Great comeback tonite!
Olden’s final game before the streak’s end saw the Yankees mount an incredible comeback to beat the Seattle Mariners 6-5 in extra innings.
They were no-hit into the eighth inning and scored five runs in the final two innings before Aaron Judge hit a walk-off sacrifice fly with the bases loaded.

The MLB shared that the Yankees were the first team since the Pittsburgh Pirates did so in 1977 to win a game after losing by five or more runs with no hits in the eighth inning.
The Yankees have won four straight after their second six-game losing streak since June.
Thursday night’s miraculous win has given the Yankees a 52-41 record.
They are just two games in back of the AL East-leading Toronto Blue Jays.
