HISTORY has been made as Ireland hosted an NFL game for the first time ever.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have continued their strong start to the 2025 season yesterday with a 24-21 win against the Minnesota Vikings.

It was the first NFL game to ever be played in Ireland at the historic Croke Park, Dublin.
Irish singer Lyra, 32, was given the honor of singing her nation’s anthem before kickoff.
Her rendition of Amhrán na bhFiann, known in English as The Soldier’s Song, has been met with a wave of positivity from fans.
“Sounded amazing in the stadium. Gave me chills,” one fan posted.
“She was incredible. The Irish national anthem is so beautiful. My favorite country in the world,” another commented.
Lyra was born in Bandon, County Cork, and featured on the Irish television music competition You’re a Star in 2004.
She released her first single, Rabbit in the Headlights, in 2016.
However, it would not be until 2024 that Lyra would unveil her self-titled first album.
Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, 41, spoke about his love of Ireland ahead of their historic game.
“This has me in tears. You are just amazing. That voice so powerful,” a third fan responded.
The Steelers claimed the lead during the final minute of the first quarter.
Running back Kenneth Gainwell, 26, scored his side’s first touchdown from a one-yard run.
They would hold on to their lead with further scores in every quarter.
This included an incredible 80-yard run from DK Metcalf to claim the Steelers’ second touchdown of the day.

However, the Vikings rallied late with Carson Wentz, 32, passing for two touchdowns.
But it was too little too late as Rodgers’ Steelers held on for a much-needed three-point win.
The NFL‘s Irish venture has proven to be an instant success, with 74,512 fans cramming into the famed Gaelic games venue.
“Never thought I’d hear the national anthem be Americanised but it was interesting!” a fourth fan replied.
The league will travel to Australia for the first time in 2026.
However, no plans have yet been announced for a game in Ireland next season.
