Rice is accepting and will serve a six game suspension to start the 2025 NFL season.

The NFL and NFLPA are working on the settlement, which will put an end to the disciplinary process.

Rice’s suspension is related to his conviction for a high-speed, multi-Vehicle crash in 2024.

He was sentenced to 30 days of jail time after pleading guilty to two third-degree felony charges of collision involving serious bodily injury and racing on a highway causing bodily injury on July 17 of this year.

Rice is paying around $115,000 to victims for medical expenses, as well as multiple other settlements due to non-criminal lawsuits.

With his suspension being confirmed as six weeks, Rice will miss games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Detroit Lions.

Rice will be eligible to return to play in Week 7 against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The NFL initially proposed a double-digit amount of weeks for Rice’s suspension.

However, the NFLPA pushed back based on a lack of precedent for a suspension of that length.

The two sides ended up not needing a disciplinary hearing and settled on six weeks.

Rice’s legal and disciplinary procedures are now completely wrapped up.

He has formerly apologized for his involvement in the crash and fleeing the scene last year.

“Last March, I was involved in a high-speed accident in Dallas,” Rice said in a statement after his sentencing.

“There have been a lot of sleepless nights thinking about the damages that my actions caused, and I will continue working within my means to make sure that everyone impacted will be made whole.

“I urge everyone to mind the speed limit, drive safe and drive smart.
