NFL star and Super Bowl champion with $72m in career earnings wakes up unemployed after being cut just days until season

FORMER Super Bowl champion Trent Brown has been left unemployed after being cut by the Houston Texans.

The veteran offensive lineman is one of a number of players to be released by the team.

Brown, 32, signed for the Texans earlier in the offseason as he put pen to paper on a one-year $3million deal.

However, he was unable to practice at any point during the team’s training camp.

He struggled in the last NFL season with an injury while at the Cincinnati Bengals.

The lineman was limited to just three games due to suffering a ruptured patellar Tendon in his right knee.

Brown has previously reached the summit of American Football as he won the Super Bowl in 2018.

He was a part of the New England Patriots side that beat the Los Angeles Rams 13-3 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

He has also earned a staggering $72million throughout his career which saw him also play for the San Francisco 49ers and Las Vegas Raiders.

But now it is without a team, just days ahead of the start of the 2025 NFL season.

He could be joined on away from the Texans by left tackle Cam Robinson who is in trade talks.

The star only signed a contract with the Texans this season, which was worth up to $14.5m.

2025 second-round pick Aireontae Ersery has impressed, which has softened the need for Robinson.

Other cuts from the roster include quarterback Kedon Slovis, running back Jawhar Jordan, fullback Jakob Johnson and wide receivers Qunitez Cephus and Daniel Jackson.

Head coach DeMeco Ryans has spoken about the cuts that have had to be made at the Texans.

He said: “It’s not just a one day type of deal.

“It’s been ongoing for last several weeks.
