After getting obliterated by the Carolina Panthers last week, the Atlanta Falcons are making a coaching change.

Hilliard is out, and offensive passing game coordinator TJ Yates will take over his duties.

He was in his second season with the Falcons before being fired.

Hilliard previously served as the wide receivers coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington, and the Buffalo Bills.

Yates has been with the Falcons since 2021.

He is a former NFL quarterback and previously served as wide receivers coach in 2022 and 2023 before being named quarterbacks coach last season.

The move came soon after head coach Raheem Morris announced other changes to the offensive system.

Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson will remain with the team, but he is being moved down from the coaching box to the sideline.

The Panthers crushed the Falcons 30-0, their largest margin of victory in 10 years.

The Falcons offense couldn’t manage to get anything going during the entire game.

Second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. had the worst game of his career in Week 3.

Penix passed for just 172 yards and threw two interceptions.

One of those interceptions was a brutal pick-six.

Penix has yet to throw a pass to any wide receiver or tight end this season.
