Nick Sirianni refuses to let Eagles stars be involved in historic start of NFL season ceremony after Super Bowl win

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni has told his players not to participate in the NFL season ceremony after the team’s Super Bowl victory.

There will be a ceremony for the reigning champion Eagles before Thursday’s season-opening game against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Eagles are coming off a dominant Super Bowl 59 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs back in February.

So on Thursday night, the Eagles will be raising a Super Bowl championship banner ahead of their home divisional matchup.

However, Sirianni revealed that he and his players will not watch the banner unveiling for the season opener.

“I didn’t know it was banner night. We won’t be out for that,” Sirianni told reporters during a press conference on Tuesday.

The banner ceremony is set to occur before the kickoff of the season at 8:20 pm ET at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles have consistently made it clear that they’ve focused on the 2025 season and not to dwell on their success from 2024.

Star quarterback Jalen Hurts has not been wearing his Super Bowl ring in public because he has “moved on” to the new campaign.

Offensive tackle Jordan Mailata recently revealed that, while Sirianni was speaking to the team, players had been shown the team an image of a car driving with the Super Bowl in the rear-view to show where their drive needs to be.

Superstar running back Saquon Barkley recently echoed the sentiment of what the team’s goal is moving forward.

“It’s gonna be cool, but not really gonna have too much time to really focus on that,” Barkley said about the Super Bowl banner unveiling.

“You’ll see it, probably put a smile on your face but then it’s right back to work and focus what matters most, and try to put another banner up there.”

Eagles’ new addition, linebacker Josh Uche, suited up in Super Bowl 59, but for the Chiefs.

He has noticed the franchise’s lack of speaking on the title and simply trying to win again since he signed with Philly.

“The Super Bowl is a thing of the past,” Uche said.
