A NOUGHTIES pop icon has defiantly hit back at body shamers in a clever way.
Embracing her new figure after being cruelly shamed for her curves, Canadian songstress Nelly Furtado has defied haters while taking to the stage in Manchester.

Earlier this month, mum-of-three Nelly stormed the stage in Cornwall when she was trolled for her curvier figure.
In her heyday, Nelly was known for her slender figure and donning white tank tops with low-rise pants.
When she took to the stage at Boardmasters in some hotpants, trolls pointed out how her body had changed over the years.
The singer, known for her hits I’m Like a Bird, Say It Right, Maneater and Promiscuous, has now hit back at the trolls with a very clever ensemble.
As she headlined Manchester Pride on Sunday, Nelly wore a T-shirt that seemingly slammed beauty ideals.
The cartoon on Nelly’s top was of a slender body which wore a cropped white vest.
The T-shirt was almost an optical illusion.
In the cartoon, the figure showed off its stomach and wore an ultra-short mini skirt with a belt which spelt out the words Whoa Nelly.
The back of the top was of the same figure and displayed the back of the outfit.
A Better Than Ever tattoo was visible on the figure’s back, which was a nod to Nelly’s 2024 single of the same name.
Nelly completed the look with some fishnet glittery tights and some knee-high boots.
The boots were in pastel hues and said “Better Than Ever” – just like her top.
Reacting to the outfit, one person was confused by the look and took to X to say: “So at Pride, Nelly Furtado wore what looked like a toned tummy printed on a shirt dress and I presumed it was because of all the weird comments she’s got recently about being ‘big’.
“And I assumed that at some point like maybe during Promiscuous she was gonna rip it off in a kind of symbolic ‘look at me I’m sexy as f**k’ way and she just didn’t and I was left so confused.”
Earlier this year, Nelly vowed to have a “body neutral” year.
Sharing a slew of snaps in February, she said: “HAVE A BODY NEUTRAL 2025, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY, LOVE WITH EVERY INCH OF YOUR HEART.”
She went on to add: “This year I became aware of the aesthetic pressure of my work in a brand new way, while simultaneously I experienced new levels of self love and genuine confidence from within.”
She then revealed she had to take legal action against some “charlatans” who were “selling services based on selling health and beauty myths about me”.
Nelly then got candid when she revealed that she had never had “any face or body surgeries or augmentation”.
She noted how she hadn’t had anything done besides “veneers on the top row of my teeth, quite recently”.
