RYAN Day, head coach of Ohio State, has hit out against a proposed college football rule change.

The regulator announced last week that the FBS Oversight Committee voted to move the winter transfer portal.
This would be pushed back from December to January.
If players wanted to transfer schools for the 2026 season, they would have ten days to enter their name into the NCAA transfer portal.
The window would open on January 2 and run close on January 11.
The Division I Administrative Committee must approve the legislative changes before they can be implemented.
The vote is expected to occur before October 1.
However, Day hopes that the change will be blocked.
Speaking to reporters, the head coach voiced his opinion on the change, saying, “No, I don’t think it’s a good idea at all.
“And the conversations we had with the Big Ten coaches, I think the majority of them agree.
“I just don’t quite understand how teams that are playing in the playoffs are expected to make the decisions and sign their upcoming players while they’re still getting ready to play for games.
“It doesn’t make any sense to me.”
The main aim of the switch is to ease the pressure on the calendar in December.
Currently, coaching changes, bowl practices and games, transfer recruiting, and the high school signing day all collide at the end of the year.
However, if it were to be voted through, the January transfer window would open straight after the College Football Playoff quarterfinals.
And could overlap with semifinals, the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl and the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
Day had been a QB for New Hampshire at the turn of the century, before beginning his coaching career there as a TE coach.
He took over as head coach of Ohio State in 2019, following almost two decades of serving as a positional coach in college football and the NFL.
The 46-year-old led the Buckeyes to back-to-back Big Ten championships in 2019 and 2020, winning the Coach of the Year award in his first season.
Last year, Ohio won the National Championship, beating Notre Dame 34-23.
The Buckeyes are currently 2-0, defeating Arch Manning’s Longhorns 14-7 before blowing away the Grambling State Tigers 70-0.
They face the Ohio Bobcats this weekend.
