OLYMPIAN Ryan Lochte was hit with nearly $275,000 in liens for unpaid taxes and medical bills as his divorce turns nasty.
The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal that the Olympic gold medalist swimmer is drowning in debt, and just as he is in the middle of an ugly divorce with his estranged wife, Kayla Rae Reid.

Just last year, the IRS filed a lien against both Lochte, 40, and Reid, 34, for tax periods 2021 and 2022.
According to the outstanding tax bill, the former couple owes Uncle Sam $99,696.09 for those years.
Additionally, they’ve been hit with two separate outstanding bills from their Florida HOA association.
One was filed on 11 December 2024 for $2,231.76 and another was filed just this month, on 12 July 2025, for $3,686.28.
Those liens read, “The association has provided maintenance services and is owed the amount which remains unpaid.”
Both liens have been filed against the couple’s Florida home.
Additionally, Lochte himself has accrued unpaid medical bills from a Florida Hospital.
The swimmer was admitted to the hospital from November 21, 2023 and was discharged two days later, on November 23.
For that stay alone, he has an outstanding bill for $127,977.73.
He was back in the hospital again for one day in February 2024, and for that stay he has an outstanding bill of $39,720.15.
Meanwhile, a source familiar with the backstroke and freestyle swimmer said the athlete hasn’t been as adept in finances as he is in the water.
“He isn’t a great investor or entrepreneur. He seems to think his image alone will save him from his financial problems.”
The total of his combined open debts is $273,310.
Meanwhile, Lochte and Reid are locked in a bitter divorce, as The U.S. Sun has previously reported.

Earlier this month, Lochte, 40, said he has found love again with Molly Gillihan, a 37-year-old kindergarten teacher.
In an interview with PEOPLE, the swimmer claimed he is “the happiest I’ve ever been.”
“It’s so crazy this is happening so fast, our connection, but we can’t hide it,” he said.
The former Olympian made their relationship public on Instagram over the Fourth of July holiday.
His ex-wife, Kayla Rae Reid, filed for divorce in March, sharing cryptic messages about “betrayal.”
Reid, a former Playboy model with over 300,000 Instagram followers, recently spoke about her divorce, reflecting on her journey to healing.
“Sometimes God allows the betrayal because it leads to the breakthrough,” Reid shared. “Divorce isn’t the end of my story. It’s the beginning of my rebirth.”
She continued, “I didn’t choose to be broken, but I’m choosing to rebuild. You’re stepping into the best chapter of your life. You just have to heal first.”
Reid added, “Most people have no idea what I’ve endured. Ignore their opinions. Truth always reveals itself.”

Swimming icon Lochte has been married to Kayla Rae Reid since 2018 after they started dating in 2016.
The pair welcomed three children during their marriage; Caiden, seven, Liv, five and Georgia, 23 months.
Lochte has won 12 medals at the Olympics, including six golds, three silver and three bronze.
His exploits have made him the second-most decorated male swimmer in Olympic history, behind team-mate Michael Phelps.
The 40-year-old released a statement of his own on the divorce.
He said, “I want to take a moment to acknowledge what Kayla shared.
“This past year has brought major changes for both of us as we’ve come to the difficult decision to end our marriage.
“I’m deeply grateful for the life we’ve built together and especially for the love we share for our three children.
“Although this decision hasn’t been easy, I believe it’s the right step toward peace and well-being for us both.
“I remain committed to healing, growth, and co-parenting with care and respect as we move forward separately.
“Thank you to our family and friends for your continued support – it truly means a lot as we begin this new chapter.”
