Passengers losing out on deal for cheap flights from September 30 as JetBlue ends another partnership with major airline

TRAVELERS will see a major change to air travel as JetBlue ends its partnership with another airline.

The move comes just weeks after the company cute ties with Hawaiian Airlines.

JetBlue is officially ending its partnership with TAP Air Portugal, with the end date set for the end of September.

Customers will have until September 30, 2025 to book TAP Air Portugal flights to earn or redeem TrueBlue points.

These can be used to get cheaper or free flights on JetBlue or other bonuses.

According to a statement from the airline company, this date will be the dealine for all requests relating to TAP Air Portugal.

The deadline to travel and submit any requests for retroactive TrueBlue points must also be completed on or before this date.

And cash bookings made on TAP Air Portugal will not be affected by this update.

JetBlue added that its codeshare partnership, which allows the company to sell tickets on flights operated by TAP Air Portugal and vice versa, is set to continue.

“We apologize for any inconvenience,” JetBlue wrote in an official statement.

The two airline companies had a short-lived partnership, only launching in February.

TAP Air Portugal offers over 1,000 weekly flights to 80 cities in 32 countries.

These include Portugal, North America, Central and South America, Africa, and Europe.

JetBlue previously urged passengers to use their JetBlue points before September 30.

If customers fail to use their points before the deadline they may risk losing them.

JetBlue recently distanced itself from another partnership with the Supreme Court on declining to hear an appeal involving JetBlue and American Airlines’ discontinued Northeast Alliance.

The Department of Justice had argued the alliance would reduce competition at major East Coast airports.

Key Dates to Know

  • Partnership Ending: JetBlue and Hawaiian Airlines are ending their 13-year loyalty partnership.
  • Last Booking Date: September 30, 2025 — last day to earn/redeem JetBlue TrueBlue points on Hawaiian flights.
  • Travel Completion Deadline: All travel must be completed by March 31, 2026.
  • Retroactive Points: Deadline to claim past points is March 31, 2026.
  • Award Travel for HawaiianMiles: Can still book JetBlue flights with miles until September 30.
  • Reason for Split: Hawaiian’s merger with Alaska Airlines and loyalty program transition.
  • Unique Feature Lost: TrueBlue was the only program offering both earn and redeem options on Hawaiian routes

American Airlines called the court’s rejection “disappointing,” saying the partnership had benefited travelers.

JetBlue, which exited the alliance nearly two years ago, did not join American’s appeal.

More on JetBlue

JetBlue and Spirit ended their plans for a $3.8 billion merger after a judge said it would “harm competition”.

The airline also recently announced an automatic “item” surcharge when you take certain objects on flights.

JetBlue also rolled out a new policy allowing certain passengers to avoid a much-hated extra surcharge.

And there’s another way customers can avoid an automatic “basic” surcharge.
