Head coach Andy Reid‘s Chiefs players reported for training camp to prepare for the 2025 season.
The team will be at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph from Tuesday to August 13.
After practice, Mahomes spoke to reporters and addressed the team’s heartbreaking 40-22 loss to the Eagles last season.
“We didn’t play the way we wanted to play. . . You want to go out there and be better. . . Now we’re here and you get to start over. . . How can I be better for my teammate beside me so we can go out and attack it?” Mahomes said, per A to Z Sports.
During the game, Mahomes threw two interceptions and was sacked six times, the most he has ever taken both in the regular season and playoffs.
He shared that the team hasn’t felt the need to speak any further about a Super Bowl that saw them scoreless at halftime.
But the three-time Super Bowl MVP made sure to remind the world that the team has the mindset of putting the past season behind them and has gone to work throughout the offseason.
“I think enough was spoken after that game,” Mahomes said.
“But I think when you go back to OTAs and back to minicamp and stuff like that, the guys had that mindset.
“You could tell by the pep in their step and just in the little talks that guys have throughout the team.
“I don’t think anything really needs to be said when you get beat like that.”
For Mahomes, his goal is to throw the deep ball more this season.
“I got to be better at throwing the ball down the field,” Mahomes said.
“If teams are going to challenge us at the line of scrimmage, if teams are going to challenge us to throw the ball deep, we have to show that we can do that.”

Mahomes’ yards per attempt at 6.8 yards in 2024 was the lowest mark of his career.
Kansas City addressed some questions regarding its roster this offseason.
The Chiefs improved their offensive line by signing former San Francisco 49ers tackle Jayon Moore and drafting tackle Josh Simmons in the first round.
And the team took care of its own.
Over the past week, the Chiefs signed guard Trey Smith to a record four-year, $94 million deal and pass rusher George Karlaftis to a four-year, $93 million extension.
Kansas City will look to win its third Super Bowl in four seasons in 2025-26.
