The 54-year-old was arrested last year for DWI – the third time he’s been charged.
He agreed a plea deal with prosecutors for five years probation with “intense” supervision for the first 12 months.
TMZ Sports report that Mahomes Sr officially requested permission from a judge on July 17.
And he has been given the green light to travel to Arizona over the second weekend of August.
The Kansas City Chiefs face the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on August 9.
Mahomes Sr was given permission to make the trip on July 22.
He has told authorities he will stay at a hotel in Glendale for the trip between August 8 and 10.
As part of the conditions of his probation, Mahomes Sr will have to submit a urine test upon his return to Texas.
His son Patrick rarely features a lot in preseason.
But the planned trip to Arizona means the quarterback looks likely to play in that game.
Mahomes Sr has previously received permission to leave Texas.
He did so in February to travel to New Orleans, Louisiana for Super Bowl LIX.
But the Chiefs were beaten 40-22 by the Philadelphia Eagles.
The 54-year-old was seen in an apparent heated confrontation with fellow former MLB player John Rocker.
The pair were arguing on Bourbon Street in the heart of downtown.
Mahomes Sr was given permission to travel to New Orleans from February 7 to 10 for the Super Bowl.
And he later admitted the confrontation with Rocker was staged.
It was all part of a promotion for a boxing fight between the pair.
The Kansas City Chiefs begin their NFL season in Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers.
The Chiefs will play against the Cowboys in Dallas, Texas on Thanksgiving in November.
