Pepsi to roll out major soda switch for first time in 20 years – and fans can try two flavors

PEPSI has revealed it’s launching new sodas for the first time in 20 years and there are two new flavors to get your hands on.

The fizzy drink is something we all like to drink to keep us cool and refreshed, especially in the summer months.

But now the company has launched an innovative product that will make you feel less guilty when drinking it.

The brand has released a Prebiotic Cola, making it the first significant innovation in the traditional cola category in 20 years.

The new fizzy drink tastes just like the traditional Pepsi you love but has just 5 grams of sugar, 30 calories, no artificial sweeteners and 3 grams of prebiotic fiber.

They say the new option is designed to meet consumers’ ever-changing needs, and with many being more health-conscious than ever, this certainly hits the mark.

The new launch comes in two flavors; Original Cola and Cherry Vanilla flavors.

“From the iconic blue can, to the consumer-preferred Pepsi Zero Sugar, our portfolio has always adapted to the needs and flavor preferences of the consumer,” said Ram Krishnan, CEO, PepsiCo Beverages U.S.

“Pepsi Prebiotic Cola represents the next leap forward in giving consumers choice, optionality and functional ingredients in their cola experience, without sacrificing the iconic Pepsi taste we’re known for delivering.

“We can’t wait for the world to try the taste of Pepsi Prebiotic Cola for themselves!”

Available in 12 oz. single cans for trial and 8-packs of 12 oz. cans, the new offering will be available online this fall and at retail in early 2026.

You will be able to locate them in the traditional carbonated soft drink aisle alongside the full Pepsi portfolio.

Pepsi Prebiotic Cola joins a stacked portfolio of PepsiCo beverage offerings, including the #1 modern soda player, poppi, after the acquisition earlier this year.

Coca-Cola has also sparked a frenzy after revealing its new recipe.

The competitor is now ditching high-fructose corn syrup.

Coca-Cola plans to soon debut a new version of the iconic drink sweetened with cane sugar rather than high-fructose corn syrup in the US, the company shared on Tuesday in a news release announcing its second quarter earnings.

The company first began using high-fructose corn syrup to sweeten Coke in the US in the 1980s, but following fan pleas and a recent health movement sparked by the Trump administration, that’s about to change.

“As part of its ongoing innovation agenda, this fall in the United States, the company plans to launch an offering made with US cane sugar to expand its Trademark Coca-Cola product range,” wrote the company.

The beverage manufacturer said the new product is “designed to complement the company’s strong core portfolio and offer more choices across occasions and preferences.”
