It saw the winner of the FedEx Cup receive an incredible $25m prize during the last two years.
But now, golf chiefs have decided to spread the wealth.
According to Front Office Sports, the “starting strokes” format that gives some players a closer start to even par has been scrapped.
Instead, the FedEx Cup will be a standard 72-hole format with zero advantages.
And as a result, a decision has been made to also bring down the winning prize from $25m to $10m.
It now means that money can instead be spread around more evenly across other Championships.
While players will receive greater rewards based on their long-season performances.
It’s claimed that at the Wyndham Championship, the top 10 will now share in a $20m split.
That increases to $22.92m at the BMW Championship, although that is split between the top 30.
Meanwhile, the Tour Championship has a massive $57.08m on offer.
Of that, $40m goes to the top 30.
While the remaining £17.08m is split between players 31-50.
Current holder Scottie Scheffler is currently No1 in the rankings.
And should he remain top dog while winning the Tour Championship, he will eventually bank $25m — the same figure as the old FedEx Cup prize.
The record winner of the tournament is Rory McIlroy with three victories to date.
