THE Philadelphia Eagles have been handed a huge injury blow after just one game.
Eagles fullback Ben VanSumeren has reportedly been ruled out for the season following the injury he picked up in the Eagles’ opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

VanSumeren was forced off the field after the opening kickoff in the league’s curtain raiser and was placed on injured reserve on Friday.
Now ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter has reported that the 25-year-old has suffered a torn patella tendon and will miss the rest of the year.
It’s about as cruel as injuries can get for VanSumeren, who played just seconds of the game before his season came crashing to an end.
VanSumeren was an undrafted talent in 2023 before being picked up by the Eagles.
He made nine appearances in his rookie year before playing 11 times last season.
The former Michigan star missed the end of last season too, suffering a knee injury in practice in November that meant he was unable to be part of the Super Bowl success in New Orleans.
VanSumeren, who was listed as a starter on the opening depth chart, has been replaced by pass rusher Za’Darius Smith on the roster.
The Eagles signed veteran Smith to a one-year contract on Friday.
