THE Philadelphia Eagles have recruited quarterback Sam Howell as part of a trade ahead of the new NFL season.
Howell joins the Eagles just four months after moving to the Minnesota Vikings from the Seattle Seahawks.

In response to the trade, the Vikings have snapped up free agent Carson Wentz.
Wentz backed up Patrick Mahomes at the Kansas City Chiefs last season and spent time with the Eagles at the start of his career.
As part of the trade, the Eagles have received Howell and a sixth-round pick in the 2026 NFL draft while the Vikings get a fifth-round pick in 2026 and a seventh-round pick the following year.
Howell, 24, is now set to back-up Jalen Hurts alongside Tanner McKee.
The Eagles have waived Dorian Thompson-Robinson following the deal.
On the trade, football reporter Tom Pelissero wrote on social media: “From a financial perspective, this is essentially a wash for Minnesota: Sam Howell was due $1.1 million in the last year of his rookie contract, while Carson Wentz is expected to sign a minimum deal, which is worth $1.255 million for veterans this year.”
Reacting to the move, one fan said: “I believe that was a good trade by the @Eagles because Howell brings in the experience and knows the system with fast game in the NFL.”
The Vikings are now expected to add a wide receiver before the season begins.
Carolina Panthers star Adam Thielen has been linked with a move, although it is believed that team officials are considering other alternatives in addition.
The Vikings begin their NFL campaign on September 8 against the Chicago Bears.
Meanwhile, the Eagles kick things off against the Dallas Cowboys on September 5.
