The veteran pass-rusher will pocket a base salary of $4.25m during his time with the Eagles.

And Smith’s deal also includes incentives worth an extra $4m.

That means he could earn a stunning $8.25m if he hits his targets in Philly.

The 32-year-old is seen as a huge coup for the Eagles, especially given his three appearances at the Pro Bowl.

Smith has starred for teams including the Ravens, Packers, Vikings and Browns.

And he was most recently playing for the Detroit Lions.

Smith was snapped up by Philadelphia after they lost fullback Ben VanSumeren to injury.

The ace pulled up in their opening 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys, having played just seconds of the game.

VanSumeren was immediately put on the injured reserve list.

But scans confirmed the Eagles’ worst fears.

It was revealed that he had suffered a torn patella tendon.

And VanSumeren has now been ruled out for the entirety of the new season.
