THE Philadelphia Eagles have already suffered a feared season-ending injury.

Ben VanSumeren went down clutching his knee on the first play of their NFL opener.

Medics rushed on to help the Super Bowl champion against the Dallas Cowboys.

It happened seconds into the campaign on Thursday night.

The 25-year-old was seen in a clinch with an opponent before twisting his knee.

It is feared he could have suffered an ACL injury.

That would almost-certainly put an end to his 2025-26 season.

It is a devastating blow to Nick Sirianni‘s team.

“Injury Update: FB Ben VanSumeren (knee) is out,” the Eagles said on X.

The 2023 undrafted star won the Super Bowl last year.

The full-back has been with the team through his whole NFL career to date.

Fans reacted with shock at the devastating news and sent their support.


“I hope it’s not as bad as it looks,” one said.

Another added: “This looks so bad.”

A third commented: “That is an awful start to the season.”

Meanwhile, the Eagles were without their star man Jalen Carter before the first play of the season.
