‘Phillies Karen’ starts to get sympathy over backlash after she screamed at dad for his home run ball

THE ‘Phillies Karen’ is starting to get sympathy from fans after she screamed at a dad for a home run ball.

The woman was spotted on TV cameras yelling at a man who had grabbed a ball for his son after Phillies star Harrison Bader hit a home run.

She complained after missing out on a home run ball

She appeared to complain about how the father had got the ball at the Miami Marlins’ LoanDepot Park.

He eventually caved and gave the ball to her as she then stormed off back to her group.

However, some fans have started to take the Phillies Karen‘s side in the resulting online debate.

Many have pointed out that the ball went towards her originally, and the dad had covered a good distance to nab the ball.

One fan posted on reddit: “Anyone finding they have a bit of sympathy for Phillies Karen?

“I saw the video and I see a man come several seats over to retrieve a ball that fell right in front of a woman around our age.

“And I have to say, all the patriarchal-focused rage in me very well could have resulted in a similar action from me.

“However, once I saw it was for the boy and not the grown man, I wouldn’t have pursued it.

“But part of me is thinking good on her…how many times have things been snatched away from us by a man?!”

Another fan backed up the argument in a different thread.

They wrote: “The ‘Phillies Karen’ did absolutely nothing wrong.

“I’m sure everyone has seen the video of the woman, dubbed the Phillies Karen, going over to get a ball back from a dad and his kid.

“What everyone hasn’t seen is the video of the ratty father running over several seats to go and snatch the ball that landed in front of the woman in question.

“She did absolutely nothing wrong and is now going to get witch-hunted for absolutely no reason.”

The whole incident has received massive attention on social media.

The father, Drew Feltwell, has even been on NBC Philadelphia to discuss the moment after he made his son, Lincoln, 9, give the ball to her.

He said: “She brought that on herself.

“I don’t want her life ruined but she brought that on. She’s going to pay for that and it’s not by my hand.

“I don’t wish any harm on her. Maybe she was in the moment. I am not going to defend her.”

Both Major League Baseball teams were clearly watching the incident unfold in real time.
